5.0 out of 5 stars Great film, 11 Aug 2006
By Mrs. S. K. Goffin - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
All the elements of this film are right: the psychologically interesting characters, the Cornish landscape, the sense of menace, the isolation, the idea of the 'mad' artist, and the completely unexpected ending. Although this is a film from the 70s, it is actually quite a sophisticated product. It is very much an 'English' film. There is none of the Hollywood plasticity.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic 70's British Horror film - they don't make em like they used to..., 27 Jul 2007
By David - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I have always had a love of British horror films made in the 1960's and 70's. Crucible Of Terror is an excellent film. The plot concerns an artist, supurbly played by Mike Raven (Lust For A Vampire) who lures women to his studio to make life like sculptures of them. There are several murders and a nice twist in the tale. The film also stars a very young James Bolam (New Tricks, When The Boat Comes In). There are several different dvd editions listed on Amazon. I admit I went for the cheap option but wasnt dissapointed. The print pictire and sound quality are excellent. This is a region 1 coded American dvd so make sure your player is compatable. If you enjoy good gory British horror films made when Britain was a major player in the horror film industry then this film is for you.
