Facts, Facts, Facts!, 1 Jun 2005
Peter Sellers was undeniably a comic genius. Fact! Shot in the Dark is the first true Clouseau film. Fact! This is a contender for greatest comedy ever. Fact! Following Clouseau's advice to his subordinate Hercule, when confronted with facts one must reach the inevitable conclusion. In this case the facts tell us that you must purchase this DVD. In the film itself, when faced with the facts concerning the various murders that take place, Clouseau reaches a conclusion all of his own. Concerning the plot, I'll say no more. Concerning the DVD, I'll say just this, you owe it to yourself to own this one. To forever have this jewel of comedy in your film collection is a real pleasure and privilege. The disc is light on extras but that is hardly the point here. All you need is the film and once its finished just go back back to the beginning and watch it all over again. One final point, given that one can pick up the six-disc Pink Panther collection for next to nothing these days, you'd be better served by doing just that. You get five Clouseau/Panther films and a special features disc. Be warned however, the collection is short of one essential sequel: The Return of the Pink Panther. Nevertheless, you can always pick that up separately (although that is becoming increasingly difficult these days).

FROM BEGINING TO HILARIOUS END, A GREAT FILM!!!!!!, 26 Jul 2007
Just because this is sequel to and made the same time as The Pink Boring Panther, don't let it put you off this film. IT IS SO FUNNY YOU CAN'T BELIEVE!
A Shot in the Dark is definatly a classic Peter Sellers film. Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau has a bigger and better part than in the previous film and more characters are introduced such as: Cato, Dreyfus, Francois and Maria Gambrelli.
The best part is the Nudist Camp which made me laugh and I haven't stopped yet! (Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, etc.)
Surely if I'm a Pink Panther Series fan and I like this film, then other Pink Panther Series fans will like it too. I strongly reccomend this to them.

Prequel to The Pink Panther Series, 29 May 2004
Shot just months after The Pink Panther, this film reveals the life of Inspector Clouseau in the Paris gendarmerie before he was tasked with investigation of the four funniest jewel heists in film history. Rumour has it that Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards (director), though they made hilarious films together, openly despised each other. With quarrels often resulting in months of brooding aloofness. Many consider the pairing of Seller/Edwards one the most inspired in film history for their irony and slapstick comedy. This film includes the kitsch big band of Henry Mancini and his Orchestra. Including the theme tune, recently used in the Nissan Micra adverts. Watch for Mancini and his band in the nudist camp scene! A Shot in the Dark misses its 5th star for lack of viewer engagement. Like all the Inspector Clouseau films, all the focus is on Peter Sellers' performance. In other words, if you like Peter Sellers, you will love this film.
