Established in 1996 by Chris Thomson and Richard Bull, Yacht Associates have built up a global reputation with innovative campaigns for music (Blur, Bernard Butler), fashion, furniture, installations, publishing and corporate clients. They are driven by a desire to streamline the design process and home in on a classicism that is born out of ideas that add depth and credence to briefs/projects. This book documents collaborations with illustrators, photographers, musicians and interior designers. Their traditionally English approach strikes the eye - Yacht Associates classically start out from photo material or pictural productions which are then combined with delicate typography. By using exotic materials, Yacht's album covers turn into fine objects as their style pays high reference to material subject-matters, which again is rather Brit-untypical, creating solutions of a cool and precious elegance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite simply, the most inspirational design book I own, 17 Feb 2002
This book is merely a book of pictures. It's Eye Candy for the creative person. Design for Designers. But it's Designer Eye Candy at it's best. From some truly inspired work they have produced for clients (such as the amazing cover for the book 'The Man in the High Castle' by Philip K. Dick) to the things that inspire them, I feel this book gives you everything you need to know about Yacht Associates without even having text in it. (Apart from the photographic credits) A must buy for Designers who love Design...
