Product Description

Book Description

Colourful history of the products of Sweden's foremost car manufacturer

This book provides a fascinating display of Volvo cars from the rugged simplicity of the original OV4 model of 1927 to the latest high-tech models which have taken the company through into the 21st century as one of Ford's Premium Automobile Group brands alongside Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Lincoln.

Along the way have been models which are now recognised classics, cars like the streamlined PV444, the famous Amazon, the stylish P1800 - forever associated with film star Roger Moore in his portrayal of The Saint - and the 850 and S40 racers which did so much to change the image of this worthy but previously rather staid marque.

Also featured are the many examples of Volvo pushing the boundaries of technology in helping to develop the cars of the future, and some fascinating prototypes of cars which point the way ahead.

The author supports the lavish pictorial displays with a text which traces the company's evolution in a most readable style and with supplementary panels which list each model's years of manufacture, production figures and brief technical specifications.

5.0 out of 5 stars Explodes the myth that all Volvos are boring, 6 Jul 2001
By A Customer
If nothing else, this glossy, beautifully presented book explodes the myth that all Volvos are boring. The text is informative and easy to read. Good to see potted histories of bizarre prototypes and obscure models from the marques earlier days. Lovely photos and outanding repro make even the squarest of these cars look good.
