My review for this book 'Cool Hotel' is 'it is really cool!' I bought this book from amazon.co.uk, the reason of buying it is because it is really cheap and if I do not like it I can return and have my cash back! What a good deal!
I read someone review this book as "a bad imitation and poor copy of Hip Hotels". I m a big fan of Hip Hotels I have religiously bought every single copy of them since they publish in 1999, I think you can never compare both of them together, as they both have market themselves differently. Hip Hotels got more text as Cool Hotels got more picture.
I am a hospitality designer so reference book related to hotel is very important to me. As I traveled a lot to different country to work, book size is a must considered factor. When I got Cool Hotels I look at it and thinking it is really a small and handy little book, and the content itself got a really good selection of hotel, nice picture and text is just mainly minimum information of where the hotel and who do thatEand that's good enough for me. Now after 2 week owning it, it had been my design inspiration bible.
If the publisher decided to publish a follow up copy for trendier hotel that miss out from this copy, I will definitely get them for my own traveling library..

This book is a fantastic reference point for design styles for a number of 'cool' hotels world wide. In my option it is just what you want. Loads of pictures of the rooms, lobby etc. with just the contact details of the hotel and its facilities. It also mentions the designer. It doesn't ramble on with unneccessary and often out of date information and prices. Obviously these hotels aren't for those on a tight budget but it covers all the chic ones world wide.

I find it also an excellent reference for getting cool ideas for your own house !

Obviously, some people try and fail. The photography is inconsistent, the lay-out unimaginative and the text unsatisfactory...It is questionable if the author actually visited the different hotels. As a guide it is missing the fantasy look and inspiration you get from the Hip Hotels series. Forget about it! Stick to Hip Hotels
