5.0 out of 5 stars Hypermedia in a book - all you need, 14 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Created by the people at The Designers Republic(TDR), one of today's most daring design firms, this publication is taking to new ways of communicating architecture. By recreating a three-dimensional building in the form of a printed media, this study attempts to expand and challange new approaches of presenting and experiencing of architecture itself, based on the groups's own philosophy and research from over the past fiveteen years. 3D-2D is a beast, but relax, it's friendly to the explorer. TDR, treating the book like an electronic media, question our very habit towards reading, communicating design an information presentation, as this book can't be read - but vastly explored and requires more interaction than any CD-Rom presentation, you can think of. You will find yourself flipping the book around, any angle you can imagine, to find the last peace of information it contains - this is FUN and challenges the potentials of a book as a medium in itself: exploring vs reading, physical activity vs sitting still, rethinking vs following. TRY IT and if you like mimalistic design, too, this is a MUST HAVE! The Designers Republic creative team are Ian Anderson, Nick Bax, Matt Pyke, David Bailey, Abby Ribbands and Vicki Maesen.
