When Ron Mueck's extraordinary sculptures were shown to a broader public in exhibitions during the late 1990s, they met with great astonishment and admiration. Their presence and perfection, their realism and mysterious, transfigured quality excited immediate international attention. Since then, the artist's fame around the world has increased steadily with each new work. Mueck's sculptures are the first to show the human figure not only with factual precision, but also with an image of the psychic states of humanity: sorrow, desolation, vulnerability, and hope. This second, expanded edition of the monograph edited by Heiner Bastian is the first comprehensive publication on Mueck's work. The catalogue raisonné lists all of the works produced by the artist to date.

I first was made aware of Ron Mueck work at the Sensation Exhibition at the Royal Academy where his early piece Dead Dad was on display. I was instantly taken by the realism of the figure but the distortion on form made it more fascinating.

This book is a must for any fan of Mueck's work. It has stunning illustrations of his pieces with words from Mueck himself.
