Review
""The photographs are a study of the behavior of contemporary individuals once they are absorbed by the environment, reduced to colored dots and dominated by the crowds they are a part of, their minds synchronized to the weather chanel."
Synopsis
This exhibition catalogue offers a selection of pieces from Walter Niedermayr's projects, thus granting an inside view of the artist's attitude towards photography and reality. Represented in the book are his internationally acclaimed alpine sites, his hospital and prison walks and photographs of motorway and building site architecture. The works are characterised by a diffuse light illuminating spaces and colours. Stretched between the visible and invisible, series of spaces ranging from sober eeriness to poetic delimitation reveal themselves. The artist confronts the viewer with the expansive imagery of a photographic series without beginning or end, with the spatial effects on the beneficiaries and those affected. His photographs are of space viewed from lives as passengers and inmates.
