Product Description
Synopsis
Especially in the late 1980s and early 1990s, wood as a building material has been winning new favour with the younger generation of architects. The resurgence in popularity has been influenced to a large extent by the work of Konrad Wachsmann, author of "Holzhausbau" / "Building the Wooden House". This book demonstrates how new forms can be devised when "old" building material (wood) is subjected to modern manufacturing processes. In the main body of the book, plans and photographs of a great variety of houses show how some of the century's key architects (including May, Poelzig, Schmitthenner, Scharoun, van der Velde and Wachsmann) have experimented with the material.
