Product Description

Product Description
This work introduces C++ via computer graphics. It is based around a central theme: computer graphics and the development of "real" object-orientated tools for graphical modelling. It demonstrates and shows how to apply the syntax and features of C++ as well as explaining the theory. It assumes no previous knowledge of C++ and all graphical applications are explained throughout the text. The more advanced features and applications of C++ are covered in the second part of the book. It should be of use to a range of readers from novice programmers through to those wanting to apply object-oreintated programming techniques to computational graphical modelling projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent book, 11 Feb 2002
By atome@net.sapo.pt (Lisbon, Portugal) - See all my reviews
Having necessity to update my knowledge of programming for Visual C++ 6, I came across with some difficulties with concepts such as constructors, pointers, innheritance and the new and delete operators. With this book I managed to surpass these difficulties and to understand the programming in C++ easily.
The book is written in a very clear mode and the exercises at the end of each chapter facilitate the learning. I strongly recommend this book to all who intend to acquire solid bases in C++ programming allowing an easy advance into the Visual C++ environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars not overloaded with unnecessary information, 29 Oct 1998
By A Customer
I am not a programming expert, so I can talk about this book as newcomer in the C++ programming world. I wanted to learn how to write programs in C++ for computer graphics and I needed a book, which didn't confuse me about the issues associated with object-oriented programming. This book gives me a good understandable introduction to OOP, so now I undertand how to write great C++ programs.

The history about C++ is really short, unlike other books. The descriptions in this book are short, clear, precise and easy to understand. This book is good to read from start to end and as well a good reference book.

I love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thorough Introduction and Treatment of C++, 13 Jun 2003
By Joseph J (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This book provides a thorough introduction to C++, for the beginner, and sufficient detail for the intermediate/expert programmer. I have found the book amazingly thorough. It provides the student with sufficient detail and examples of programming situations that might be encountered. It is this consistent focus on ALL possible programming uses/applications of C++ features that makes it an A-rated text. I am sure that throughout my career, I will keep this book close by my side as an invaluable reference.
Graham Seed's approach is exemplary.
