Product Description

Product Description

The second, revised edition of this book covers all aspects of non-uniform rational B-splines necessary to design geometry in a computer-aided environment. Basic B-spline features, curve and surface algorithms, and state-of-the-art geometry tools are all discussed. Detailed code for design algorithms and computational tricks are covered, too, in a lucid, easy-to-understand style, with a minimum of mathematics and using numerous worked examples. The book is a must for students, researchers, and implementors whose work involves the use of splines.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book with good examples, 2 Dec 1998
By A Customer
I'm still working through the maths involved, but this is a really good reference for anyone interested in programming with parametric surfaces, which - especially for us in the games industry - is where the all the action will be in the coming years. The example code is pretty useful, and I really must mention all the many illustrations, which are all computer-generated (so they're very precise) and are extremely handy for visualising what the text is referring to. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for anyone interested in NURBS., 6 Sep 2000
By ritchie@gamedev.fsnet.co.uk (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) - See all my reviews
As a non-mathematician (games programmer) I was at first rather horrified by some of the formulae presented. However all is forgiven, the worked examples hold your hand through the intricacies and the pseudo-code algorithms given are excellent and very simple to implement.
