4.0 out of 5 stars A Conspiracy Thriller, 24 Mar 2007
By J. Chippindale (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)

This is not really my type of book and comes under my own personal filing system as one of the children `spawned' by Dan Brown and the Da Vinci Code. I do not mean this to be a disparaging remark. I read the Da Vinci Code and found it an enjoyable piece of fiction, with the emphasis on the fiction. Many of the books written since containing a similar theme are better than the original Dan Brown and of course many of them are not. Having said all of that, I did enjoy the book. It is not the best book I have ever read, but it is certainly not the worst.

It did however, fall into the trap of many conspiracy/mystery books by ending up with too many characters and from my own point of view would certainly have benefited from a `List of Characters' at the front of the book. This would have saved me personally lots of time, as I had to keep scanning back through the previous pages to remind myself who, exactly was who. Or maybe my mind is not as active as it once was.

The story itself was well written and interesting and to go into any great depths would spoil the book for any potential readers. Suffice to say that the story encompasses a brotherhood of killers The Assassini, whose roots go back many centuries into the past. They were once hired by the princes of the Church to protect them in times of danger. But whose orders do they obey now? . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Spannender Thriller!, 19 Sep 2000
By A Customer
