Another good book in a cracking series., 22 May 2000

Many photographers love the sense of mood that a black and white image instills, and it's ability to be timeless. Even modern pictures can look as though they were taken in the hay day of black and white photography. This books aim is to enable the photographer to meet the full potential that colour film offers, and it does so very well. The three main topics are : Colour & The Subject, Colour & Composition, Colour & Light, and there is also a section at the back for choosing the right equipment to shoot colur stills. This book belongs to the "better picture guide to" series and so is a useful part of any photographers armour. The layout and quality of pictures are as good as any of the others in this series and where necessary diagrams are included for illustration purposes. Colour photographs are a wonderful thing, and although they cannot always evoke the sheer mood of many black and white images they have distinct advantages, many of which are illustrated perfectly over the 128 pages. Of particular interest in this book is the "Colour & Light" section which, unusually for this series, goes on to reveal some quite advanced multiple exposure techniques. This is a great grounding for beginners, and these extra techniques may prove useful to seasoned veterans also. Author : Michael Busselle
