He still holds the world record for pole-positions (65), an example of his extreme style. This book goes back to his childhood in Sao Paulo, and covers his first steps in motor racing and his F1 career, including comprehensive results. The book features several hundred photographs and drawings of all the cars driven by Senna in Formula One, with detailed four-sides drawings of his two most typical cars. It also contains interviews with relatives, former team-mates and engineers, building up a comprehensive portrait of Ayrton Senna.

I read this book cover to cover and was delighted with the treatment given to the subject. The book conveys the overpowering drive to win that made Senna the man he was. It starts by providing background into his early years, then goes on to cover his Karting an lower formulae activities, before going into the detail of his F1 career, which comprises about two thirds of the book. There are many colour photos and 'eye-witness accounts' that help to complete the picture. This is one of many books on Senna, but deserves to do well. Enjoyable to read - I look forward to other books in the series that the name implies.
