Amazon.co.uk Review
Flash 4 Straight to the Point concisely delivers an informed introduction to Macromedia's powerful interactive animation tool. In a mere 118 pages, it serves up an intense presentation of every major feature of Flash 4.
Structured into five major sections, not including a basic introduction, every function and feature is covered, from a discussion of "Drawing and Graphic Objects" through "Movie Principles", "Making Movies", "Interactivity" and on to "Testing and Publishing". Each section is broken down into less than six short chapters (some sections have as few as two), and each chapter is precisely written with just enough illustrations and text to deliver the point. While not the deepest book on Flash, it certainly is a concentrated dose.
The index is uniquely organised by subject categories, which can be both a plus and a minus. While this is handy for beginners looking for information on a general topic, it makes it difficult to find a specific command or feature if you don't already know what category it falls under.
Flash 4 Straight to the Point is outstanding value and a terrific first book for those who want to climb the learning curve in Flash. --Mike Caputo
