For anyone interested in the film this book is an invaluable resource for delving further into the structure, complexities and mysteries of Kubrick's enigmatic drama. Reading the scenes on paper made me realise how sharp the dialogue is (particularly in the first argument between Bill and Alice) and thoughts of Pinter sprung to mind. What I also saw is how little of the information in the film is verbally conveyed. This became more evident as I read the source story and saw that many of the character details Schnitzler describes are only depicted in Eyes Wide Shut through visual means. Reading Traumnovelle also revealed some of the changes Kubrick made which are also very interesting and throw even more light onto some of the ideas in his
