4.0 out of 5 stars A good starting point for the enthusiast, 26 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Lots of full-colour pictures and informative, if brief, text make this compact book a useful jumping-off point for anyone with an interest in wristwatches. It's an excellent resource for the enthusiastic amateur, although it contains details of rare and unusual watches that will intrigue readers of all levels. If I were nitpicking, I'd say that the index is a little skimpy - it includes makers' names but not model names - and the section on chronograph watches confuses the terms "chronograph" and "chronometer". Otherwise I wouldn't hesitate to endorse the book, even if just for the sumptuous pictures.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of pictures, but lacking in text and information, 11 Feb 2002
By A Customer
The main problem I found with this book is that despite it's title the book does not provide any sort of rating scale to indicate the desirability of any of the watches included. The wide range of watches included covers eveything from novelty Mickey Mouse watches to Rolex Oysters, so a "collectability index" would have been nice (I appreciate that prices can become quickly dated).
The book itself is smaller than it looks on screen, approximately 6" square, but contains lots of good quality lifesize or bigger pictures. The descriptions accompanying the pictures are a little disappointing, pointing out the obvious and omitting more interesting details not available by looking at the pictures themselves. But I did still find it interesting enough to read cover to cover, and the pictures are certainly worth looking at again

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money, 4 April 2002
By A Customer
A great glossy book for the watch enthusiast. What it lacks in techincal and textual content it more than makes up for with beautiful pictures and a wide and varied range of watches. This book seems to be a personal insight into watch collecting and as such features some very interesting and unusual watches not ususally found in other books. Certiainly well worth its bargain price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Collectible Wristwatches
A lovely little book but deeply flawed. The author is clearly a collector for cosmetic value but has little to offer in the way of technical material. Read more
