4.0 out of 5 stars Ace on museums, art & architecture; poor on food & drink, 26 Jan 2005
This guide would be best used in conjunction with one of the other standard guides which give more info on where to stay, eat and drink. That said, I would definitely seek out Michelin guides in future for other citybreaks.

This is a very useful guide to the best sights in Brussels and its suburbs - its star ratings are very reliable and sensibly mean-spirited - which means you shouldn't miss anything with two stars or more. It provides a useful guide to the bigger museums, not only with floor plans but also indicating some key exhibits. This is especially useful in the Cinquantenaire museum which is vast and leaves many exhibits unlabeled. I had only three hours to spend there and this guide made me feel I'd seen all of the exhibits I really wanted to (other than the 2/3 of the museum which was closed to the public). It mightt also help those who don't speak either French or Flemish as many museums are bilingual with few English notices.

It's also great on architecture, pointing out houses of interest even if only their exteriors can be viewed.

The maps could be easier to use. An overview of the various quartiers would have been very helpful. It was fairly hard to orient ourselves or to figure out how the trams and metro worked.

The guides to food and bars seem less than useful unless you're fairly well off (a "moderate"-rated restaurant charged 115 euros for two courses for two, with the cheapest bottle of wine in the place).

I used this for a 4 day trip. I'm a hard-working tourist and spent about 8 hours a day in museums and sight-seeing, so tested out most of the content on key sights for a citybreak .
