Of all the guide books to Normandy on the market, this one has to be the best. Written from a french perspective it details all the main tourist sights in the region along with a whole load of other "off the beaten track" places to visit with reccomendations for restaurants & places to stay. The self-drive tours that are listed are also worth following, I can promise that they take you to some wonderful sights that aren't on the main tourist routes. My only complaint is that the book seems to have a very slight bias towards the costal area. Other than that it's a great purchase - you won't be dissapointed!

I found the book well presented with accurate information with regard to sights etc. The suggested driving tours and sight rating system were very helpful in planning a trip to Normandy. Although I didn't eat at any of the restaurants in the guide, I do live in the Channel Islands and can say that the Restaurant section for Jersey is accurate and an excellent choice. Hence I would make the assumption that the recommendations for other areas of Normandy are accurate.

I also bought the Rough guide to Brittany and Normandy. The Michelin Green Guide was far superior.

I diverted from my usual practice of buying Rough Guides with this book on the basis of Amazon customer reviews, and now wished I hadn't.

The content is certainly acceptable and we visted some decent restaurants recommended in the book, but it is the usability that suffers over the Rough Guide. Whereas places in that book are arranged by region, this is arranged alphabetically, making it virtually impossible when out on a day trip, to find other places of interest near to where you are. For that reason alone, I couldn't recommend buying it, and will certainly be sticking to Rough Guides in the future.

Not to mention that had I bought the RG, which also covers Britanny, I would not be having to buy another book for my holiday there this year.
