Product Description

Product Description
he multimedia artist, poet and novelist Brion Gysin may be the most influential cultural figure of the 20th century that most people have never heard of. This first ever biography of Gysin aims to counter this cultural injustice - and does so perfectly. Despite his relatively unheard of status, Gysin's ideas and material influenced generations of artists, musicians and writers from all over the world. Among those who cite his work as inspirational to their own are such artistic luminaries as David Bowie, Keith Haring, Patti Smith, Michael Stipe, John Giorno and Brian Jones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gysin was a dreammachine, 8 Sep 2006
What a fascinating life was Brion Gysin's. He was always in the thick of things, whether in Morocco with the Rolling Stones or the Beat Hotel in Paris with Ginsberg and Burroughs. This book is a lively, fluid account of a remarkable individualist. Strongly recommended.
