Product Description

Product Description

A hundred years after the Big Wet, Earth has been left a broken, infertile world of rock and sand. The town of Providens is like many others on the post-Big Wet planet - small, mostly illiterate and struggling for survival. But while most communities are like Providens, not all the cities that survived the Big Wet are. Some are like Newbegin, burgeoning metropolises that combine pieces of past societies with the new status quo. When Providens welcomes a stranger named Michael into its midst, will the quiet man lead them to the better world of Newbegin or shatter what little order still exists?

5.0 out of 5 stars New beginning at Newbegin, 5 Nov 2009

Highly enjoyable ready. Lots of questions that I'm sure will be revealed in future volumes.
The black and white art only adds to the desolate feel of the desert and the plight of it's inhabitants.
If you like the post apocalyptic theme then I would recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Glorious Fun, 26 Mar 2009
This is, for all intents and purposes, a by the numbers Post apocalyptic romp; but all the better for it.
Sure it has all the hallmarks of mediocrity; the brooding hero with a "past", sun cults and desert zombies.
It doesn't matter though; free of all pretense, this is deceptively deep, a lack of precise explanatory passages make this an infinitely intriguing read, which only morphs into a more brilliant butterfly in future volumes.
If you love your post-apoc in the vein of Fallout or Deathsport (look it up) your knees will tremble at a reading of this.
Do yourself a favour; shake free the shackles of grim superhero pollitics for this; you will fall in love almost instantly.
