4.0 out of 5 stars Not ultimate, but very good..., 6 Sep 2004
If this is the ultimate, then I wouldn't need to read any other publication, but that's not true. However, I have referred to this book a lot since purchasing it, and that is a good reflection.
The book starts with both one man and two man stretching exercises, which are static stretches, and there is no mention of PNF stretching. Abdominals shows six exercises, more would have been good. The same goes for the cardiovascular section. However, there is a large section on free weights, and then a secion on isolaterals, which has made me think about my training. The sections I've used a lot are the plyomteric and power series, and I've started to incorporate these more into my training. There is a section that has sample workouts for beginner, intermediate, and advanced, which are good, although I would have liked to see more samples for say, time based workouts, when sometimes all we have is thirty minutes in our busy schedules. The nutrition section is short, and although it outlines what Royce typically eats, it may not suit your lifestyle. It is based on food combining, which you may or not agree with.

Overall, a well presented book worth purchasing, and plenty of not only technical advice, but viewpoints on how we should train as martial artists. This book wouldn't gather dust on my shelf.
