Product Description

Synopsis

Pym brings together two classic novels: first, Edgar Allan Poe's polar adventure, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, and then Jules Verne's sequel, An Antarctic Mystery. These stories are part nautical adventure, and part "lost race" mystery. (The original sketched figures are included in Poe's novel, which are missing from some recent reprints.)

1.0 out of 5 stars Copyright Free, 25 May 2009
This review is only based on the second part of the book: 'An Antarctic Mystery' by Jules Verne.

This Coachwhip edition is not very good. The body of the text is taken straight from Project Gutenberg's on-line free downloads of out of copyright material and printed without having been proofread. The book is riddled with typos, misprints and errors - some of them so glaring as to make the book almost unreadable. On Pg. 327, for example, there are three typos in a single paragraph.

A quick glance through the first section, written by Poe, makes me think the same applies there. It really is very shoddily done.

I don't object to people reprinting, possibly print on demand, editions of otherwise hard to find, out of copyright books. But not reading the text and correcting the obvious typos that litter this edition is unforgivable.
