5.0 out of 5 stars the finest english language translation in the world, 3 Sep 2006
By Mr. R. Memon - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
i bought this book a few years ago having read different translations already but not being completely satisfied with any of them. this one is written in more modern and clearer english compared to others e.g. by pikthall or yusuf ali. hence, the meaning is easier to understand. there are few footnotes to detract from the prose but then this isn't a tafsir. i would recommend the book to anyone from an english background who wishes to understand the quran but is unable to access the original arabic. i believe hamza yusuf from america recommended this book also. it's expensive but i think well worth it. i read it every year and haven't come across a better one yet.
