Product Description

Product Description

Len Gilmore is the victim of a bloody murder and is found with a certain body part hacked off and stuffed in his mouth! Then Mrs Winklehorn - or is that Mr Winklehorn? - suspiciously falls from the upstairs flat window and mysteriously disappears. To add to the confusion, a little Colombian git, Juan Garcia, becomes a suspect after taking a shot at a police officer. Then, there's Kate Dunkerley - twitchy and jittery one minute, back in control the next - with very puzzling, suspicious behaviour...Lynn Phillips provides a tremendously enjoyable read in this sequel to "Watford Under Wood".

About the Author

Watford is a pleasant town, unjustly derided by some. But Lynn Phillips knows better. After a work history zigzagging through different countries and occupations, her final job before becoming a full-time writer was in an office a few hundred yards from Shady Lane Police Station - in Watford. With a background as diverse as a cowgirl in a farm in Suffolk, running a laundry on a kibbutz, and for many years as the International Advertising Manager for Outspan, she now keeps her hand in by working part-time for the Hillingdon Police. She has had a number of prize-winning short stories published, and Moon over Watford is the second of her Watford series of novels to appear in print. The prize-winning Watford under Wood was the first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greta Pusey does it again!, 9 Jul 2007
By Bertha Newbery (Harrow, Middx) - See all my reviews
Greta Pusey does it again! (or rather Lynn Phillips does it again.) Grabs you by the shirt tails and hauls you along on another rattling tale of life at Shady Lane Police Station. In MOON OVER WATFORD (sequel to WATFORD UNDER WOOD) Greta - now a detective sergeant - is at her first crime scene with SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer), a messy murder. And it's a cracker. Lynn Phillips has created a host of colourful characters in the list of suspects; some who are women and turn out to be men, others whose appearance changes quicker than the weather. As the story unfolds, the murder gathers along in its wake: drug trafficking, organ trafficking and CIA involvement. And Greta is in the thick of it sorting it out. By her side is plodding dependable Sgt. Alfie Partridge but Greta's eyes are on Det Inspector Derek Michaelson. MOON OVER WATFORD is fast paced and full of humour and keeps you turning the pages. Lynn Phillips has created a crime series which is definitely different.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does Greta get her man this time?, 11 Jun 2007
Moon Over Watford - is this the name of a new pub or dubious behaviour in the Harlequin Centre? No, it's the latest offering from Northwood author, Lynn Phillips.

The Moon in question is Superintendent Moon, in charge of Watford Police Station where the protagonist, Greta Pusey, is based. Since our encounter with Greta in the award-winning Watford Under Wood, she has been promoted to DS and has passed her induction with SOCO. How will she cope with her first big murder case?

Lynn Phillips' second crime novel is written in her distinctive fast- moving style with a full cast of diverse yet credible characters. The plot swings from a dismembered body to emerald smuggling via drugs and the CIA and takes in familiar locations such as Croxley Green and the canal at Rickmansworth.

Lynn succeeds in cleverly weaving Greta's and her colleagues' personal lives in with their working lives. These sound like `real' police officers - i.e. human. But does Greta get her man? I recommend you read this gripping novel to find out.
