Product Description

Product Description

Namibia is one of the world's last true wildernesses, home to the highest sand dunes, the oldest desert and the only place you might catch a glimpse of the rare black rhino, or desert-dwelling elephants. With a wealth of animals and birds to get twitchy about, this diverse landscape is perfect for the environmentally conscious traveller with a sense of adventure. Footprint's fully revised 5th edition helps you stay ahead of the game in Namibia's national parks and provides thorough listings on where to sleep and eat, and how to get around. It provides fantastic coverage of all the national parks and their incredible wildlife, including a 32-page wildlife guide. It includes detailed maps and listings to help you explore and get around, from the Skeleton Coast to Naukluft Park and the world's largest sand dunes. It provides accommodation listings for those with a sense of adventure - from bush camps to B&Bs. It offers great coverage on all the diverse activities on offer, including sandboarding and safaris, ballooning and bush hiking. It features a new lightweight, durable format.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TRAVEL GUIDE, 1 Feb 2009
By N. Jones "SPOCK" (HAMPSHIRE, UK) - See all my reviews

This is easily the best guide to Namibia. It is much more detailed than the Bradt guide & provides some very useful travel tips & reviews. It is obvious that the author's team have visited & travelled in Namibia in great detail. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide, 24 April 2009
By anon (england) - See all my reviews
Very informative and well written, much better than Lonely Planet. This is my first experience of Footprint having been a Lonely Planet fan previously but I will go for them first in future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best travel book I have ever used, 26 Aug 2009
By N. Watts (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a truly excellent guide and the only one you will need for Namibia. I really can not fault it - I was concerned that the hardcover would make it heavy but it just made it more durable. Information is comprehensive and extensive and easy to locate in the guide. It really paints an accurate picture of what to expect. Some minor inaccuracies over pricing - like all travel guide you can not keep this up to date.
