This book is quite useful as an introduction to cooking for someone who has IC. The recipes are pretty basic but it does bring the message home that fresh, unprocessed food is the way forward. You get the feeling the book was written with the very best intentions but, as I say, it is very basic and the recipes are not very imaginative. Of course it's hard to be imaginative when the list of ok foods is not very long! Having said that, I'm glad I bought this book, it's small and light enough to fit in my handbag so I take it everywhere with me to refer to if necessary when I'm food shopping.

Having recently being diagnosed with IC I was looking for a book that would give recipes for a varied diet based on a variety of foods known to be okay for IC sufferers. I really don't need a recipe for basic grilled salmon, nor yorkshire pudding, rice pudding or minestone soup (the latter consisting of onion, celery, beef stock and spaghetti and nothing else)! The 'variety' of foods used is so limited and I was hoping for some real inspiration and guidance on eliminating acid-making foods. I am sorry to say that I thought this book was a total waste of money.

This is a very helpful book. It is easy to follow, and uses easy to find ingredients. The meals look good, and it is full of useful information about what can be eaten, and what is best avoided. The person I found it for likes it very much.
