This is a delightful book for children 5-12 (and perhaps even older). It tells of a hidden colony of bears far in the north of Scotland, who become involved in (among other things) disappearances, mythical creatures, and even a haiku contest. The characters are well drawn, the action proceeds at a lively pace, and the local touches will delight Scots and non-Scots alike. Highly recommended.
