5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully drawn & nostalgic rollercoaster of adventure, 7 Feb 2007
This is a wonderfully nostalgic adventure that cavorts around London in the 1950's. The clear line developed by Herge is in evidence in this work by Edgar P Jacbs who also worked on Tintin. Being originally printed in the Tintin magazine it has a similar pace and regular cliff-hanger to fit in with that publication. The drama is very tangible and more real than in Herge's work and the draftsmanship is splendid.

There were many adventures in this series (some continued after Jacob's death) and they make a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun!, 14 Feb 2007
By Blackpenny "BP" (Littleton, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
It's so great to see these classic stories by E.P. Jacobs in English again. Jacobs work wonderfully combines the old-fashioned detective story with science fiction. The Yellow M is one of his best, with a particularly interesting antagonist.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great comic book by collaborator of Herge, 20 Aug 2008
By Andres C. Salama (Buenos Aires, Argentina) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have try for years to read an album of Blake and Mortimer, the series of comic books made by E.P. Jacobs, a disciple of Herge who worked on Tintin as well. Unfortunately, they are very difficult to find outside continental Europe. I finally got hold of the Yellow Mark (considered one of their best books), and it was even better than I expected, with the story of Professor Philip Mortimer and Captain Francis Blake pursuing a mysterious criminal who mystifies Scotland Yard with its spectacular exploits like robbing the imperial crown, with its good mix of fantasy, action and and suspense, its period ambience (this book was written in the early fifties), its London settings. I certainly would be interested on reading more books of B&M (specially from the early period).

3.0 out of 5 stars A little too dated
The artwork is magnificent and if you didn't know better you'd swear it was drawn by Herge. However, I found the story a little too dated to enjoy that much and the 'antique' feel... Read more
