Product Description

Product Description

Every parent makes a tough decision about returning to work after having children. If you have had enough of trying to do too much in too little time, and feel torn between work and spending time with your children, this book will guide you through your options. Do you make something that might be saleable? Have you got a skill you could use to earn in the evenings or while the children are asleep? What courses might help you re-train and still be there when the kids get home from school? Whether you need to earn something just to boost the family budget or have ideas for a business that could support your family if only you knew how to get started, this is the book for you.

About the Author

Antonia Chitty has been working with parents running their own businesses since the birth of her daughter, Daisy. Daisy's birth spurred Antonia to move away from her career as a researcher/writer on Which? Magazine, and move into helping people learn to promote their own businesses better through www.acpr.co.uk. Antonia has a unique knowledge of the ups and downs of running your own business as a mum, not just based on her own experience but also on the experiences of her clients and of the hundreds of mums in business she comes into contact with in her network. She has also interviewed many parents who have returned to employment after the birth of their children.

5.0 out of 5 stars An honest and practical guide for working flexibly around a family, 18 Feb 2008
By Mrs. L. Baldwin (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A lovely book written by someone who has actually applied the advice and principles within this book herself as a mum who works from home. Discarding the rose-tinted specs, Antonia includes both high and low points of being a home based working parent by including many real-life examples of a truly broad range of flexible working parents, from party-plans to teleworking, freelancing or setting up a new business from scratch. Franchises and flexi-time are also covered in this wonderful book - a must read for every parent who is working and wondering how to spend more time with their family, as well as parents who are at home with their familes yet seeking a way to return to work or embark upon a family friendly career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 16 Jun 2008
By E. L. Brown "ebrown202" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Very useful little book which sets out the advantages and pitfalls of working from home. Information is clearly presented making it very easy to read and enjoyable too. Once you have come up with your game plan you would need to do further research into you chosen profession/method of working but the aim of the book is to introduce you to lots of different areas of possible work and to get you thinking. Gave me lots of ideas to follow up. Would highly recommend it.
