Product Description

Review
'Erotic, romantic, comic and horrific enough to loosen the bowels of a bronze statue.' Christopher Lee. Publishing News (Friday 13 Jan 06): Fans of the film The Wicker Man will leap at Cowboys for Christ, written by the film's director. I can do no better than quote from Christopher Lee, who will be starring in Cowboys for Christ: "Erotic, romantic, comic and horrific enough to loosen the bowels of a bronze statue". Bizarre Magazine 'his new book, Cowboys for Christ, is a proper, old-fashioned page-turner.' Venue Magazine 'Cowboys for Christ marks a return to 'Wicker Man' territory easy to read and very enjoyable, no boring bits and it always kept your interest. I first thought that it would be a new working of the original Wicker Man but its not really...it has a life of it own! Gary Gillies

5.0 out of 5 stars Summerisle Revisited, 22 Jul 2006
By Stephen T. Watson - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
They are all in there, you might have to look deep but every character from the Wicker Man is present in Cowboys for Christ. Going a stage further every scene seems to have been recreated but different enough to make the book fun. There's a folky type band, mad villagers, the lord / laird of the community, virgins ...all right one sells out before the end but it doesn't help..a massive burning offering with a bit of a twist, there's even a Policeman sent in to investigate strange goings on. If you like the Wicker Man you like this. It feels like a film script and if I have one complaint its that the chapters are too short so the tension never really builds, that said you know from the start where things are heading. Take it as not so much a sequal..more a homage and you'll enjoy riding the laddie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboys for Christ - a sequel to The Wicker Man?, 26 Jun 2006
By C. Callaghan "Caroline Callaghan" (Shipley, W Yorks, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Written by Robin Hardy, director of the cult horror film "The Wicker Man", "Cowboys For Christ" follows the same pattern - charismatic laird presides over small Scottish community of pagan worshippers, where unsuspecting victims are lured to an unpleasant fate. On the way, there are plenty of plot twists, some great characterisations, a good deal of humour, and some subtle digs at religion, politics and big business.

It's written in a style which builds up the tension gradually - to a horror which creeps up on you from behind and grabs you by the throat. Fans of "The Wicker Man" will love this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, 4 April 2007

I found this totally amazing. It connects with The Wicker Man in many ways which is a good thing. The Lord Lachlan reminds you when you read of Lord Summerisle, lolly reminds you of Willow, peter reminds you of Alder. The story is fantastic and you will be drawn into it. The ending is so suprising that you will be shocked when you read. BUT THIS BOOK!
