Product Description

Product Description

Extracts from diaries recounting life in Victorian England are faithfully recorded such as colourful experiences of fox and otter hunting, the military and family relationships. It includes extensive family trees, Charles Mott's accounts (which reveal an interesting insight into the cost of living in Victorian times) and a list of his performances between 1857 and 1874. The book also includes glossy photos of the Mott family through the ages, taking you back to the era and completes the glimpse back in time. Anyone interested in history will find this book fascinating. Written by a historian, it is easy to follow and a beautifully eloquent read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A family history, 1 Oct 2006
By John Taylor (Leeds, England) - See all my reviews
This is a well-written account of an established English family during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Based upon their letters and diaries, it provides a vivid picture of the society in which they lived, and their role in the military conflicts of the time. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars In A Quiet Sort of Way, 16 Oct 2006
By Robert Gaskell (Bedford) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a history of the Mott family with requent references to the Kynaston family - my ancestors - I found the book absolutely absorbing. Even if there had been no family connection, I can recommend the book as a jolly good read
