About the Author

Jo Anthony comes from a background of marketing, and came sideways into publishing by way of self-publishing her first book "Career, kids and breast cancer". Not content with expounding her views on surviving breast cancer, she is now sharing her experience on surviving the bookselling world: "It's a tough market filled with opportunities, if you know where to look."

4.0 out of 5 stars For independent authors, 14 May 2008
This book gave me the basic foundation as to what marketing is all about. So many examples and simple English. One important thing that I was taught was the need to invest alot of time.

1.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT ROLE MODEL, 10 Jul 2006

This book is a perfect example of what not to do. It has more typos and more layout errors than any other book I've ever seen. Reading the book is a truly extraordinary experience and I can only assume it was written and laid out badly as a dire warning of what might happen when you self publish.

Strangely, the author paid for a professional proofreader and typesetter. I think she is entitled to a 100% refund!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good information but I was distracted by the typos, 25 Nov 2006
I agree with the above. Why are there so many typos in this book? The information is good, though, but already out of date. Jo has cut a lot of corners like letting wholesalers write their own pieces, and it's not all that down to earth, and it's overpriced, but it's about the only book available on the subject.
