Book Description
There can’t be many twelve-year-old girls who can read from the blank pages of an ancient black book. A book that, since it was discovered buried by the sands of time in the Egyptian desert, has baffled archaeologists and scientists alike. But then Millie is no ordinary twelve-year-old girl… and what she unearths buried in the pages of the two-thousand-year-old book leads her and her grandad on an adventure of true self discovery and wonder. A journey like none other ever undertaken – where they encounter most powerful and deadly forces with nothing more than courage and cunning – that is until the book helps Millie in a way she could never have imagined. Follow them on their quest as they battle their way around the globe in an attempt to solve the mysteries behind some of the ancient wonders of the world in search of their ultimate goal – The Key to Chintak.

From the Author
Well, 100's of you have asked me what the key looks like... so check out this new version – The Children's Edition. It not only has the key, but is also presented in a bigger font to make the book easier to digest with your eyes! The cover for The Children’s Edition is set to change in the coming months, and you will get to vote on the new design. Keep an eye on the book's website for details.

It's taken a long time to get here, but the reaction I'm getting from everyone who reads it makes it all worthwhile. What is especially pleasing for me is that not only do kids love it, but adults do too. The media are starting to take note now so the next year is set to be a very interesting one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding debut novel, 11 Mar 2005
By melinda sandell (chichester, west sussex United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is an original and pacy adventure story that has the reader hooked from early on. A really likeable female herione, Millie, ably assisted by her grandfather, travels the world in search of the pieces to create the Key to Chintak. Greats twists and observations follow. This is an outstanding debut novel and the author, John Howard, is definitely a name to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alex Moore Reader, 4 May 2006
By a1ex "am" (Ireland) - See all my reviews
Millee, a 12 year old who lives with her Grandad, finds that in her guardians museum she can read an ancient book that no-one else can. If this was not shocking enough; it tells her that there is another planet called Zamoria (where adults live in propertion to the number of children alive). But even more that, she is in fact a descendant of an evil Zamorian who was banished to earth named Zadrat. Then a few years later more evil Zamorians came out and captured the Zamorian children and brought them to the centre of the earth ,which wasn't in fact moltern rock but a Zamorian continent called Chintak. In doing so and stopping any other adult Zamorians coming they were effectively making themselves immortal by upsetting the adult child ratio. But the Final and most hard to accept piece of information was that she was a chosen one and had to find Five lost magical Key parts and save the children of Zamoria facing several difficult challenges. She felt so honour-bound to go and help the children of Zamoria that with her 64 four year old grandfather she set off to start the dangerous quests.

This astonding first book of the series is a gripping page turning novel that we were almost denied if it wasn't for the stubborness of John Howard who, when his book wasn't produced, he thought it hadn't even been read. So as a test he copied out a brand new washing machine manuel and sent it to be published and it came back with the same stamp. He was so sure his book was great that he published it himself and we got a great book from it. There are no faults in this book except the overuse of the letter Z but that is easily overlooked.

From the first page I was hooked and just couldn't put it down. It was probably the quickest I have ever read a book. The characters and the plot were first class and I really, really, can't wait for the next one. Hurry up!
