Product Description

Product Description

International award-winning artist Andrew G. Bailey specialises in painting the 'light' of the Pembrokeshire coastline and woodland. His much-sought-after watercolours are in collections around the world and he has been a professional artist for over twenty-five years. The majority of his seascapes are of the St Bride's Bay area. The woodland and river paintings are from across Pembrokeshire, and he has recently started new work based on his wildlife garden. Andrew has opened his own gallery in the Riverside shopping centre, Haverfordwest. His new originals can be seen there, as well as at six exhibitions each year in St Davids and Broad Haven. He has also published a large range of limited edition prints and cards. A map on the inside flap guides readers to the location of the paintings. They are grouped in themes: Seascapes, The Preseli Hills and Gwuan Valley, Flora and Fauna, St David's Peninsula, The Wildlife Garden.

About the Author

Andrew's career started in the late seventies when a series of his pen and ink drawings were published in a book, No Strings Attached. This was his first professional commission at the age of eighteen. Other work quickly followed and in the mid-eighties, after a move to London, Andrew was taken on by an agent who fed him a whole series of exciting projects including commissions for the Natural History Museum. Alongside this a number of one-man exhibitions of Andrew's watercolours took place in Highgate and at Sadler's Wells Theatre. Many of his paintings were inspired by the Welsh woodland, his favourite subject since his mid-teens, and in 1992 Andrew moved permanently to West Wales. Andrew is now one of Wale's best-selling artists. There have been over eighty one-man exhibitions, many hundreds of commissions, and at the end of the millennium his work was available from over thirty galleries across South Wales. He has taken part in programmes for BBC television and radio and has raised funds for the Woodland Trust and other conservation bodies. He has won two international awards for his seascapes, including the "America's Favourite" category for one of his "Rockpool Treasure" paintings.

I loved the way this book was laid out with a map showing the various locations where the artist had drawn his inspiration. What a beautiful place Pembrokeshire is!
Gorgeous paintings - very atmospheric and almost haunting in some cases.

I was so delighted to see this book come into print as I am familiar with this painters work and have admired it greatly. This wonderfully inspiring book shows a range of work that encapsulates the beauty of Pembrokeshire. The pictures draw you into the landscape and make you want to be there. The colours and movement that the artist is able to communicate are fabulous. What a great present this book would make. I highly recomend it.
