Product Description
Synopsis
Archie Macpherson's bestselling biography reappraises Jock Stein's career and looks closely at the personality of the man whose shrewdness and cunning stamped him eventually with greatness. In examining the strengths and the weaknesses of this major figure, Macpherson's compelling narrative will nevertheless lead no-one to doubt the sincerity of Bill Shankly's ultimate accolade to Stein in 1967: 'John, you are immortal now.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Immortal now., 21 Oct 2006
This wasn't the sycophantic elergy to Jock Stein that I feared it may have been but was a really well balanced account of the football career of one of the most influential managers the game has ever seen.
The obvious points are all there - Lisbon In '67, San Siro in '70, the complete overhaul of Celtic but there's also much more.
You don't need to be a Celtic fan to enjoy this - just a football fan.
