2.0 out of 5 stars Ha, bl* *dy ha! , 4 Oct 2006
By S. A. Kuipers (Groningen, Netherlands) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Once again here's an author who's trying to make a quick bob or two out of of a fashionable party-topic: chavbashing. Middle-class people are slowly overcoming their fear of working-class people and are, hesitantly at first and now quite enthusiastically, bashing chavs, albeit only verbally. No one has yet dared to go the whole hog and actually beat up some chavs or indeed, a pramface.
Happy slapping remains the exclusive prerogative of chavs, yobbos and louts. However, a warning to all you middle class wankies: take care not to spout your opinions on chavs and chavdom out of you own social circle, it might get you in trouble, or indeed, slapped very happily.

Honestly, we all like a good laugh at the expense of someone else, except of course, the hardcore PC bores, who label books like this as a sign, if not the cause, of dangerous snobbery, racism, and (yawn! there it is again) fascism. Those humourless, self-righteous tossers: of course everybody knows it's nothing serious!!! Reading this book doesn't make you Hitler, it's just a laugh, for Christ's sake!!
And, in the case of this book, not even a very funny one. It's all rather twee and weak: fun poked at a group of people who can stand up for themselves very well, and who don't need those patronising gits of the PC Brigade to do it for them.
In my opinion PC people are even more frightened of working class, or "common" people than the folks who enjoy books like these.
So it's all the more sad to have to say that Lee Bok's efforts cannot really be said to cause much enjoyment. The jokes are feeble, the humour is puerile. No satire or genuine wit. By the way: in my native tongue (Dutch), "bok" is the word for a (male) sheep or goat, I personally thought that was one of the funniest things about the book, and not much else. Better luck next time, but I don't think I'll bother with Bok again.
