Review

"'However well you think you know London, this book will take you places you've never been' - The Sunday Times 'Best general guidebook to the city' - The Daily Telegraph 'Time Out not only leads you impeccably through the major attractions, it tells you where you can get a haircut, keep up with your martial-arts classes, find a Sudanese restaurant and check out the trendiest clubs. No other guide is as comprehensive' - American Way (American Airlines magazine) 'Absolutely the best guidebook by miles, written by Londoners, used by locals and tourists' - Sydney Morning Herald"

Product Description

Always exciting - and frequently overwhelming - London is one of the most visited cities on the planet. And as the possible future King takes a new wife, the eyes of the world are on the monarchy, and its home town, once again. Good job, then, that the city is getting a lick of paint, with millions of pounds being spent on the restoration of former glories such as Danson House, a beautiful Palladian mansion on the edge of town, along with some of its major art museums. As publisher of the capital's definitive cultural listings magazine, "Time Out" is perfectly positioned to track these changes - and more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good way to learn a bit more about London, 10 Jul 2009
By Bel "Sibel" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: "Time Out" London (Paperback)
Although I have lived in London all my life, I found this book opened my eyes to parts of the city I did not know. The book may be a bit dated and I would have loved more stories of London, that are often in the Time Out London magazines. Recommended for learning about London, but it would be impossible go into detail of every part of the city. You may have to find another book for greater detailed history.

3.0 out of 5 stars time out knows london, 27 Jul 2006
By JD "JD" (london) - See all my reviews

Time out is designed for locals, good for tourists too. Other good guides include rough guide to London (more for tourists) and tripadviser a very good resourse. Lonely planets site offers a good forum too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The original and best, 8 Jan 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: "Time Out" London (Paperback)
Timeout London was a fantastic read. I live in the city and I thought that it projected its culture and diversity superbly. Thats just what you get when you come to London. When tourists come to London they swarm in their hundreds from landmark to historic monument to museum in the minimum amount of time taking in as much (which is actually as little) info as possible. For a city as cosmopolitan as London, you have to allow time to appreciate the little things as well as the big ones. This is what Timeout does. There is of course a little information about all the places you should go to at least once, The London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge. But the majority of the guide is focused on the arts and entertainment side of London, the abnormal, the side of the holiday that you would get to eventually if only you had more time.

This guide really is the only one you need when coming to London, and if you supplement it with the weekly Timeout London magazine, then you'll en laughing all the way to Portobello Road!
