A new feature is the Satellite Navigation GPS tracks and waypoints for every walk. An ideal present for the walker in your family. --Exmoor County Magazine October 2006 Book Description 'I do not know of any other comparable area where such wildness and such softness are so closely interwoven.' J H B Peel's 'Portrait of Exmoor'. It's this striking contrast and variety of intertwined landscapes which gives Exmoor its remarkable appeal and offers such a richly rewarding and stimulating area for adventurous walkers. There's wildness on the desolate moorland plateau and along the rugged cliff tops, both of which offer an expansive feel and miles of fine distant views. One of the joys of Exmoor is the seemless, flowing connection between moors and cliffs, whilst at the same time, cutting through them, are winding valleys that provide a more gentle, intimate landscape. We round each bend with a thrill of anticipation, wondering what new secrets will be revealed. All 40 walking routes include: walking route summary, ratings for Effort Time Distance Ascents/Descents Refreshments and Vertigo risk, fully detailed walk description including frequent timings to aid navigation, GPS waypoints for pin-point navigational accuracy, full colour Ordnance Survey licenced mapping, short walk and stroll alternatives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exmoor made easy, 22 May 2006
This is a really useful guide to walking on Exmoor. A good variety of walks are clearly and carefully described and it's very useful to have a clear indication of how long the various sections of each walk take. We use GPS so it's great to have access to the tracks which then makes following the routes so easy and relaxing - no chance of getting lost. There are some lovely colour photos and the authors have obviously taken a great deal of trouble to catch the atmosphere of Exmoor - and, at last - we know how to eat a cream tea!

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolute value, 27 Sep 2007

This is a great book and as the previous reviewers have advised it is really accurate. I'm about two thirds through the walks at the moment and have yet to get lost on any - so that must in itself be a testament!

There are 1 or 2 walks which aren't as exciting as others and then there are those that simply take your breath away. On the whole I'd recommend trying some any of the walks in the book as proof. As always remember it's Exmoor. 6 - 10 miles on Exmoor is vastly different walking to 6 - 10 miles in Norfok!

5.0 out of 5 stars The only guide you will need for Exmoor, 20 Jul 2006

This is an essential guide for anyone wishing to explore Exmoor. Each walk is described with great clarity and the extracts from ordinance survey maps are particularly helpful. All the best areas of the moor are covered and the book is packed with supporting information. This is one of the most comprehensive and easy to use books on Exmoor I have come across.
