Product Description

Book Description

On September 25, 1980 John Bonham, considered one of the greatest drummers of all time, died in tragic circumstances. Two months later a simple letter signed by Plant, Page and Jones stated that they could not replace him and therefore could not continue. John's brother Mick delivers a personal account of his life, from a childhood desire to play the drums, improvising on pots and pans, to his incarnation as an internationally renowned rock drummer in one of the most successful bands ever: Led Zeppelin. Contributions from Plant and Jones and featuring previously unseen photos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and so personal, 3 April 2006
I got this book as I wanted to read a true account of John Bonham - rather than other questionable books around.
A true account? I believe it is as it's written by John Bonham's brother Mick. And it's the reason he wrote it - he was fed up of reading rubbish about his brother.
This book is great. As you read it - it sounds as if Mick is telling you all these stories to you personally. He tells you so many little personal stories which makes you feel as though you know Bonzo. He really gives a sense of his character.
As Mick is telling you these stories his great sense of humour comes across - telling embarrassing stories about himself and his brother.
Mick doesnt just write from personal experience - he interviews a number of people who used to work with Bonzo, including John Paul Jones.
Mick talks with such affection and admiration for his brother, his hero, that it really is a clever and touching book - it's a must read!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The REAL story, 23 April 2007
This book is a real insight into the rock and roll life from one who knew too well that not all that glitters is gold. Sadly the author is no longer with us either. Here he has captured the softer side of his brother John, known to fans and friends alike as 'Bonzo'.

Those of us who knew Bonzo are so glad that this book was written to set the story straight, and this is a very good read. Don't bother with the sensational versions of the life and times of Led Zeppelin. Just read this one and listen to their music - that's all you need.
