5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, 7 Nov 2006
My husband read this book to our seven year old daughter as a bedtime story and both thoroughly enjoyed it. It caught my daughter's imagination and sent her hurrying off to find out more about the folklore on which it is based. Both little one and Daddy can't wait to read the follow up, Chaos in the Cathedral!

5.0 out of 5 stars whispers in the woods, 14 Jan 2006

To be totally honest, I am not a huge book reader. I have to be hooked by the first few pages and if not, well, I don;t continue. Although this book is aimed at children from aged 12 and upwards, it is also a very good read for adults too. This book had me hooked from the first page. Easy to read, you can imagine yourself in the story. The illustrations are fantastic and I feel that these really put you right there. Reading this book now makes me want to visit the areas in and around Suffolk, which is where the characters and story are based. I want to find those Green men! A highly recommended read - you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy this Medieval Adventure, 31 Jan 2006
Everyone should read this quick moving medieval adventure.
Two strange children arrive in a small Suffolk town, much to the amazement of local people, who have never seen anyone green before!
This is just the beginning of their discovery of the Middle Ages, and yours too, as you read this carefully crafted tale.
You will love the descriptions of the different characters and places.
You will be terrified by the scary Silas of Wickham and amazed by the strange creatures that come from ancient myths and folklore.
You wil turn page after page without noticing as the children explore the Suffolk countryside in the search for their lost father.
This is a beautifully printed book, with attractively laid out text, and I soon adapted to the "medieval style font" which was easy to read.
The pages are made of thick smooth paper which makes them pleasant to handle.
The black and white illustrations add to the story and make this book a great one to read aloud and share.
