Product Description

Ierne, editor of Pagan Muse, Amazon.com U.S. review

Being of the generation X grouping, I found Taylor Ellwood's Pop
Culture Magick to be highly thematic for the times.

Vaughn of PaganNews.com

the book has certainly given me food for thought and discussion.
In the final analysis, that is really what matters...

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic for moderns!, 3 Dec 2008
By Tempestas (England, UK) - See all my reviews
This is not your usual rehash of Hermeticism/Kabbalah/Thelema. Ellwood has gone out on a limb and suggests that a 21st century magician can use modern pop culture images and icons in order to work effective magic. If you like cult TV, role playing games, video games, fanstasy novels and graphic novels, and you're tired of the same old instructions from traditional magical books, this might be just what you've been lookng for.

"The truly flexible magician is one who adapts with the times" says the blurb...... correctly. The medieval mages used angels and devils. That's all they had. We have Buffy, Manga, Final Fantasy and Promethea, to name only a few sources. Ellwood shows how to use your chosen icons, work with them, and get results.

Each chapter includes relevant excercises, and the appendixes include a variety of web links, how to make a pop culture altar, and instant messenger magic.

Welcome to the 21st century, O Mage!
