I have been visiting Wales for over 25 years and well remember my early meals in the restaurants there, but for all the wrong reasons! Since then I have watched with interest as the range of food offered, the quality of service and the whole dining-out experience in many Welsh establishments has improved. It was just a matter of time before someone published a guide to eating out in Wales and "Dining out in Wales 2004", a useful pocket-sized guide, is just what those of us who visit the Principality regularly have needed.

This 144-page full-colour guide features the best 150 places to eat out, each entry giving useful details about parking, comfort levels, rooms to let, disabled access, vegetarian and children's menus, use of organic produce, smoking policy, private party catering etc as well as a full write-up on the standard of food available - graded by independent and anonymous inspectors into gold, silver and bronze awards. A useful fold-out map showing restaurant locations is also included for those of us whose Welsh geography is suspect! They even include some forms in the back on which one can recommend restaurants discovered on one's travels in Wales.
