Product Description

Belfast maybe not the first place on a tourist itinerary but this would be a mistake. Life has returned to this city as big money has poured in. The tourist infrastructure is sorted: hotels are bursting out of the pavement, restaurants have Michelin ratings and its pompous 19th-century architecture isa worthy monumnet to th emen who built this city and a solid counterpoint to the flimsy steel and glass of the city's more modern developments. Packed with things to do as well as where to get the best food, drinks and clubs and if you get tired of this, take a ride along the stunning Antrim coast road.

3.0 out of 5 stars A difficult book to write, 3 Jul 2009
Anyone writing a guidebook on Belfast is facing a difficult task because the city is changing so quickly. The advantages of this guide are that it really will fit into your pocket, the author writes with a feeling of committment and many of the eating places mentioned are still relevant. My gripes are minor ones: I feel that Carrickfergus and its excellent castle should be mentioned; Northen Ireland railways are very good (if a little geographically limited)and if you travel after 9.30 relatively cheap; and the architecture of the Europa Hotel no worse and probably better than some of its rivals.
