2.0 out of 5 stars poor, 21 Sep 2005
i used this book on a recent trip to singapore and malaysia, and found myself getting frustrated with it more than any other travel literature that i have used before. mainly too much of our time was wasted hunting around for places that were marked perfectly incorrectly on maps, and/or that had rubbish directions.

key information was also missing on things such as (non existent) facilities at bus stations, bus 'stations' that were basically bus stops on the road... huge rifts that exist between similar priced bus companies etc etc. eating places that were actually in huge plazas containing hundreds of eating places, none of which being the eating place listed. 'picturesque' floating markets which were essentially ugly and dangerous areas worth avoiding at all costs, even in the daytime. no maps of some main towns

lots and lots of unnecessary information though on the history of the area that you could collect elsewhere

overall this book, and perhaps this series, tries to be all things and ends up being worth very little. even the accomodation listings seem like an attempt to satisfy every type of traveller

key, essential information often lacking. i can only guess that alot of the info is poorly researched and/or dated. this book could be 1/4 the size and 4 times more useful

go to singapore and malaysia because it is a *wonderful* place, we managed to have a great trip even with this poor title by our side.
