This is an excellent introduction to nude photography, with some very practical ideas on how to get started into what is for many a taboo area, or one which is very difficult subject to take the first steps. The photographs in the book are stunning. The balance is about right, with half if the book talking about taking the phtotgraphs, the balance discussing 'darkroom' techniques and how to display the outcome. The author shows a clear preference for Adobe Photoshop, so if you don't like photoshop this may not be for you, but I'm sure the techniques described work on other packages.

This is one of the today's better instructional's on shooting nudes in general, and it's focus on shooting nudes with digital cameras makes it especially useful. Roderick MacDonald knows his stuff and there is really no weak points anywhere in the book. He covers everything from choosing the right digital camera to finding models to camera techniques to image editing software to setting up your own studio. And there's lots and lots more. What makes everything all the more impressive is MacDonald's photographs - this book is packed full of hundred of beautiful nude shots and he uses some very attractive models (which is not relevant to the material but is a nice touch nonetheless). These are all works from MacDonald himself, so it's quite apparent he walks the walk here. All in all, this is an excellent introduction to the medium and we recommend it for beginners all the way to advanced amateurs.

I ordered this bood and I am very dissapointed. It covers every step from buying a camera to posing the nudes to publishing the photos in the internet. But it is really very very basic. The book even talks about "cameras with the lenses attached" and "cameras with changeable lenses". It explains what a megapixel is and how to find and deal with the model: "Ask her permission before you touch the model in order to get here in pose". Thinks that really every reasonable adult knows from common sense.
I can recommend this book to beginners and amateur photographs that don't know anything about cameras and picture handling. I consider myself a beginner but only about 10% of the book is actually useful to me.
