This book dispels dogmas and advances an open minded framework in which to use the Tarot, particularly suggesting that the cards may be spread for either fortune telling or deeper magical work. Prospero's approach is one who works daily with the Tarot and discards the notion of fixed or fatalistic attitudes almost immediately. Illustrated with an original design based on traditional Tarot images specially devised by the author working in conjuction with an artist, it will be interesting to see whether a brand new deck springs from this work.

'Tarot For Life' explores the meanings of the cards, different spreads, the structure of the Tarot and its relationship to the Qabbalah in a brief, easy-to-read format. Prospero breathes humour into the subject with plenty of personal references which make it a very warm, approachable book ideal for those who wish to learn but also has enough magical theory for the more advanced reader.

Prospero has managed to cover the middle ground between learner and initiate without diluting the content. Not all magicians will agree with the authors conclusions but none-the-less it remains a bold, candid and unusual work worthy of a first title.
