Product Description

Product Description
After a wild, drunken party, Paul Pennyfeather is forced to leave Oxford and begin a new life out in the wide world. His experiences take him from a boys' private school in Wales, where he meets some rather strange people, to a life of luxury in a grand country house and the Ritz Hotel, and then to seven years' hard labour in prison. Where will it all end? The black humour of this story about English society in the 1920s is as fresh today as it was when the novel was first written. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Synopsis
Sent down from Oxford in outrageous circumstances Paul finds himself a position as school teacher at Llanabba Castle alongside a hilarious cast of oddballs, rascals and criminals - posturing as educators! Then Sports Day arrives, and with it the delectable Margot Beste-Chetwynde. A parent of staggering glamour and truly suspect motives and morals, Margot's arrival sets the scene for comedy and entertainment of the highest order. As the farce unfolds and the bright young things run riot, no one is safe, least of all Paul Pennyfeather.
