Product Description

Product Description

The forest interior is more architecture than landscape. Amongst the trees, your concept of time is changed. As you move deeper inside, and the outside world disappears, the wind is calmed and noise filtered, temperature is altered, and light is bounced and subdued. Some trees stand like sentinels, others are stolid in ranks, an army of trees appearing out of the dark. This apparent sanctuary of stillness can strangely transform. It is it s own world. Stepping into the forest is always like stepping into the unknown, with the semi-dark concealing much, revealing a little. A place sometimes mysterious, sometimes secretive, but always seductive and always dark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine art photography at its best, 1 April 2009
Paul has here compiled a body of images taken in and around Nottinghamshire in the UK of trees. These fine art images, superbly executed and presented, make this a superb coffee table tome to enjoy again and again.

As a fellow photographer, also living in Nottinghamshire, it has inspired me to work on my own portfolio of fine art tree images and for this I thank him wholeheartedly.

You won't be disappointed if you purchase this beautiful work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Photography + trees + aesthetics + quality, 9 Nov 2009
By Joao M. Gil "Alma Lux Photographia" (Portugal) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For those who appreciate and admire trees, this book provides moments of inspiration and stillness as if among the trees and forest, will sitting on your sofa. I believe that Paul Hart achieves this by the sizing of the photographs/book while having made sure that the editorial/production processes would end up with excellent final printing. The chosen aesthesis fits the more classical placement of images in the middle of the page, with a paper white border - I believe that this somewhat rigid solution goes well with the B&W photographs and the matter at stake.
As a photographer that a) admires the natural world, b) especially appreciates trees, c) has experience in printing and editorial work, I'm very happy with the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth A Look, 8 Aug 2009
Not a classic, but well worth a look.

The photographer has a clear personal style, which is refreshing when most B&W landscape photo books are full of shots as anonymous as second-rate calendar photographs. By comparison "Truncated" is the product of a definite and fully articulated personal vision. The printing quality is pretty good, although not from the very top drawer.
