Product Description

Synopsis

No One Gets Hurt is a hard-bitten, multi-layered underworld thriller of frightening intensity from 'the best of Britain's darker crime writers' (The Times). When a young woman is gruesomely murdered, her friend and fellow reporter Kirsty Rice feels bound to investigate. Just as Kirsty enters the murky world of call-girls, porn and Internet sex, she discovers that she is pregnant. Despite his unconvincing denials, Kirsty is shocked to discover that the father of her unborn child is involved with the pornographers. Did he know about the killing? And how far was he mixed up with London's infamous Miller family? No One Gets Hurt is a tense and powerful thriller, hurtling from a truly shocking opening to an even more shattering climax.

4.0 out of 5 stars A competent page-turner, 22 Sep 2003
It's not a bad book. The plot was interesting and not, despite the setting, overwhelmed by an excess of explicit sex. It rattles along at a good pace and offers well researched and sometimes quite shocking background.

On the downside, the end wasn't quite as shattering as the prose would have you believe. I'd seen it coming from about halfway through. Also, I found the characters one-dimensional in the main, and rather under-developed for my tastes.

On the whole, though, a reasonably entertaining way of passing the evening. Steer clear if you're squeamish or own a TVR.
